What is DBT?

Dialectical Behavior Therapy is an evidence based cognitive behavioral treatment developed by Dr. Marsha Linehan at The University of Washington. DBT has proven to be effective for adolescents struggling with emotional regulation. Using both acceptance and change strategies, DBT aims to help children and adolescents who struggle to manage intense emotions, impulsivity, or self destructive urges by replacing these problem behaviors with skillful behaviors.

DBT at Daybreak consists of:

  • Individual Therapy

  • Skills Training Groups

  • Phone Coaching

  • Team Consultation

The DBT Team at Daybreak is led by Dr. Garry DelConte, who has completed advanced intensive training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy with Dr. Linehan.
